Three Types of Company

Posted on Monday, 14 February 2011 10:32AM by John Chambers
There are three types of company:

1.                  The Leaders: companies that are ahead of the game.  They anticipate trends and changes in their environment.  They consistently innovate to find new ways to meet their customers’ changing needs.  They are proactive and invest in their people.  They grow quickly and have above average profit margins.

2.                  The Followers: companies that follow the leaders.  They are always playing catch up with their competitors.  Their wait for their customers to tell them what their new requirements are.  They are reactive and only invest in their people when they feel they have to. They grow slowly and have below average profit margins.

3.                  The Losers: companies that resist change.  They have no plan for innovation and put their energy into trying to keep their business going in the same direction as last year.  They do not invest in their people.  They are unlikely to make any profit at all in a few years’ time.
